Workshops on Prison Reform

I’m really excited to talk about sin, prisons and dehumanization with my friends. Not the most common topics one would consider for a friendly conversation, but then again they are stuff we talk about at church. Coming this Sept 22-Nov 3, 2026 every Tuesday I will be facilitating workshops at FUS in Madison, WI.

Workshops on the Dehumanization of People in Prison and the Use of Solitary Confinement

A series of 6 workshops to explore basic facts and figures of the prison industrial complex, the WI Correctional System and (mary)Adele Revoy’s work in solitary confinement. The first 3 sessions are informational opportunities to learn more about the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Congregational Study Action Issue (CSAI), use of prisons & solitary confinement, and dehumanization of people-both inmates and staff.

The last 3 sessions consist of UU theological or philosophical questions, such as: If every person is inherently worthy, then does that apply to the most dangerous criminal offenders? Where do UUs stand on the concept of “SIN” and “EVIL”?  Come to one or come to all six!

All workshops are free from 6:30pm-8pm at First Unitarian Society. Workshop dates are: Sept 22, Oct 6, Oct 13, Oct 20, Oct 27 and Nov 3, 2026 (all Tuesdays). Registration is required. Connect with Adele at adele@carvochronicles.com for the registration QR code.

Facilitator (mary)Adele Revoy holds a Master’s degree in Human Ecology, BA in Philosophy, Certification as a Grief Support Specialist, and is currently a second-year seminary student at United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities. She held various positions in the WI Correctional System. This series is the first part of her growing body of work on her time as a Crisis Intervention Worker in a Segregation Unit (solitary confinement).
